Need to save an entire article or receipt that scrolls for pages? Instead of stitching together multiple screenshots, your iPhone can capture a whole webpage as a single, continuous document. Here’s how to do it in Safari.

How to Capture a Full Webpage on iPhone

  1. Open Safari and navigate to the webpage you want to save.
  2. Take a screenshot the usual way: press the Side button and the Volume Up button at the same time (or Side button + Home button on older iPhones).
  3. Tap the thumbnail that appears in the bottom-left corner before it disappears.
  4. At the top of the screen, tap Full Page instead of Screen.
  5. You’ll see a scrollable preview of the entire webpage. Use the slider on the right to jump to any section.
  6. Tap Done, then choose Save PDF to Files to store it, or Share to send it via Messages, Mail, or another app.

The saved file is a PDF, not a PNG, but it contains the whole page as one continuous document you can scroll through or print.

A Handy Hint About the Limitations

The full-page capture works best in Safari, but it is not universal. Keep these limits in mind:

  • Safari is the reliable option: The Full Page tab in the screenshot markup tool is a Safari feature and appears consistently there. On other browsers it may or may not show up depending on the app and iOS version — for example, newer versions of Chrome can also offer it, but support is inconsistent, so Safari is the safe choice.
  • In-app web views: Webpages opened inside other apps (such as a link in Mail, Messages, Facebook, or Reddit) use a simplified in-app browser. You can screenshot the visible area, but there is no full-page capture.
  • Non-webpage content: The trick is for webpages only. It won’t capture a full Notes document, a long Messages conversation, a PDF, or a social media feed as one image. For those, you’re limited to standard screenshots of what’s on screen.
  • Saved as PDF, not image: The full-page result is saved as a PDF file, not a PNG or JPG, so you can’t save it directly as a single image.

If you need a full-page capture outside Safari, your only built-in option is to take several normal screenshots and combine them in a third-party app.

Checklist

  • Open the page in Safari (most reliable; other browsers may vary), not an in-app browser.
  • Press Side + Volume Up (or Side + Home) to screenshot.
  • Tap the thumbnail and switch to Full Page.
